Accumulator

Energy buffer ‌:

Absorbs excess energy when system pressure increases instantaneously and releases stored energy when pressure is insufficient to maintain system pressure stability.

Flow compensation ‌:

To replenish large flow demands in a short period of time (such as when the actuator operates rapidly), reducing pump size and energy consumption.

Pulse absorption ‌:

Reduces vibration and shock in the hydraulic circuit due to cylinder start-stop or valve switching.

Gas accumulator ‌:

The most common type achieves energy conversion through the compression and expansion of inert gases such as nitrogen. When the system pressure is higher than the precharge pressure (initial gas pressure), the gas is compressed and the hydraulic oil enters the accumulator. When the pressure drops, the gas expands, forcing the oil to flow back into the system.

Other types ‌:

including spring type (mechanical energy storage) and piston type (gas and oil isolation design), etc.

Supplementary pump flow ‌:

For systems with intermittent high flow demands (such as injection molding machines), it reduces long-term energy consumption by combining accumulators with low-power pumps.

Pressure holding and leakage compensation ‌:

In a clamping device or press, the accumulator maintains pressure after the pump is unloaded and compensates for the pressure drop caused by seal leakage.

Vibration damping and shock absorption ‌:

Protects pipes and components from damage caused by hydraulic hammers or shock loads.

Precharge pressure ‌:

The initial pressure of the gas accumulator needs to be set according to the working pressure of the system (usually 80-90% of the minimum system pressure).

Maintenance requirements ‌:

Gas pressure should be checked regularly, and precautions should be taken against vibration, high temperature or oil contamination.
